Debut: Signed a contract with SM Entertainment after he won the “Best Outward Appearance” award with future bandmate Sungmin on the Company’s third annual SM Youth Best Contest. He was then trained in singing, acting, and dancing. He was first recruited in a five member boy band “smile” with future bandmate Leeteuk but this idea was dropped. Donghae was then put into another boy band group, Super Junior 05 now known as Super Junior without the 05 suffix.

How he became a singer: When Donghae was a child, he dreamed of becoming a athlete… but he always liked dancing in front of his father. He wasn’t sure whether or not his father was serious but he told Donghae to “Be a singer”, so when he was in the 6th grade. Donghae replied to his dad, “No, I want to be an athlete.” But then at the end of his 7th grade year he noticed a small advertisment in an album that said “apply for an audition”. When Donghae told his father he wanted to try out for an audition his father said “yes” and “slipped some money into his hand”. Donghae had passed the auditions.(Donghae’s father wanted to become a singer, but due to the objection of Donghae’s grandfather.. he couldn’t. So Donghae decided to audition instead of becoming an athlete.)

• Donghae really admires those taxi drivers and public transport drivers. Not only because his father used to be a taxi driver, but also because he himself will feel tired and aches all over after driving for half an hour and thus find those people impressive as they can drive all day long.
• Donghae is very affectionate so his methods of waking up the other members are to either pat their butts or go hug them out of bed.

DONGHAE'S FATHER PASSED AWAY

Malaysia was hot. Steaming hot. I pulled at my bright blue shirt as I listened to the producer give directions for the ending of the music video. We were almost done. From the corner of my eye, I could see HeeChul ruffle his hair in aggravation because of the weather. My body went into autopilot as we finished the shooting and we were all ushered to TVXQ's concert. I managed to get a hug from YunHo hyung before we went to catch our airplane. HyukJae was beside me in the plane, nodding his head to his PMP, smiling at being able to see JunSu again.

I closed my eyes and later found HyukJae staring at me as he shook my shoulder. "What?"

"The plane's landing. We're going home." He said, gesturing to my seatbelt.

Home. Home. HyukJae's meaning of home was not the same as my own. His home was the Super Junior dorm that we lived in every day of the year. He was able to see his family whenever he wanted to because they were close by. My home was the home I left behind for this life, the home that had my brother, my father, my mother. My home was the place where my blood related family members where. The Super Junior dorms were not my true home. It was my temporary home until I was able to return to my family after I finish my career. I knew that I would be in the dorms for a long time until I was satisfied with my accomplishments in SM.

HeeChul was sitting in front of me with KiBum and turned around, knowing what I was thinking about when HyukJae had referred to the dorms as home. He hit my head, "Yah! Don't be so depressed."

I smiled widely at my hyung as he rolled his eyes and turned back to the front. The plane landed ten minutes later and I found myself glad to be back in Korea. Weeks passed as the end of summer began to set in, slowly but surely, and I found myself playing a game with HyukJae late one night with JongWoon and RyeoWook on the couch. Sometime in the game, my cellphone rang and I jumped, shouting "Pause!"

I heard HyukJae making a disgruntled noise as I started to grumble about disruptions, picking up my phone while doing so. HyukJae pokes at my side, accusing me of setting up the phone call when I was about to lose, but I tuned HyukJae out as I heard my mother on the other line, her voice muddled with tears. I made out the words father and died as I froze. I could hear HyukJae calling my name as I scrambled to my feet awkwardly. I dropped the controller and clutched the phone in my hand as my brother's voice replaced my mother. "DongHae-yah, dad..."

I walked into the hallway, the same word leaving my mouth in protest to my father's death, each time growing louder and louder, "no, no, no, no, no..."

I could hear my brother crying on the other line as HyukJae's arms wrapped around my waist. I didn't care, I needed to go home. My real home. I leaned against HyukJae as my brother told me to hurry home and hung up. I dropped the phone as HyukJae let go of me only to be replaced by HeeChul. I cried onto HeeChul's shoulder as he stroked my hair, singing Believe softly. I was vaguely aware that the whole dorm was around us until I stopped crying. HeeChul kept me in his arms as he asked, "What happened, DongHae-yah?"

"Dad...died." I managed out before collapsed completely.

A week later, I was back in my hometown, helping my mother and my brother with the funeral preparations. My brother looked at me oddly, but I could see why, seeing as I haven't seen him in years. One night, I found myself in the room I shared with my brother, sitting on my bed and staring at the night sky that I missed seeing due to the city lights. I heard the door to my room open as I found myself staring into the eyes of my older brother, DongHwa.

"Hyung?"

"DongHae-yah, how is life away from home?" He smiled softly, sitting down on his bed. "You don't seem as happy as you used to be. Your smile has faded over time, has it not?"

"Hyung, sometimes, I wonder why I'm still in the entertainment business, and then I remember that I love to sing more than anything else in this world. I love to sing. I love to dance." I took a deep breath, closing my eyes. "Dad wanted to be a singer and, now, he's...gone. I want to fulfill his dream, that's why I left to begin with." I opened my eyes, staring straight at my brother, "Now, more than ever, I want to fulfill his dream."

DongHwa looked at me before a smile broke out on his face. He messed my hair up before leaving the room without another word. I stared after him for a while before turning onto my side and falling asleep. In a few days, I saw the rest of the Super Junior members as they came to support me at my father's funeral, DongHwa was surprised at the other members. They didn't say anything, but rather kept me company as my father's body was finally put to rest.

After the funeral, DongHwa pushed us all into our room as HeeChul waved us off as he needed to work with his schedule. I gave him a weak smile, but he just smiled at me. We piled into my room, KyuHyun, SungMin, myself, and HyukJae were on my bed. KiBum, HanKyung, and JongWoon were sitting on the floor while YoungWoon and JungSu were on DongHwa's bed, RyeoWook nestled in JungSu's arms. I felt numb as SungMin handed me another piece of candy.

I put the candy in my mouth as I began to cry again. My father's death really setting in. The fact that he was gone. The fact that I would never see him again. I felt HyukJae's arms wrap around me as the door open. Hit after hit. HeeChul was in the hospital and his leg was broken. I felt my tears grow as HyukJae kept a firm grip around my waist, pulling me into the van as he carefully put my seatbelt on. I could feel the others staring at me, but my cries weren't the only ones that I heard. I fell into an uneasy sleep next to HyukJae and the next thing I know, he was waking me up as the others were getting out of the cars to visit HeeChul.

I unbuckled my seatbelt, nearly leaping out of the car, following JungSu as he led all twelve of us into HeeChul's room. KiBum and HanKyung took their spots by HeeChul's side as I watched SungMin and HeeChul's interaction. I leaned against the wall, sinking to my feet as HeeChul dismissed most of the group, leaving HyukJae, myself, HanKyung, and KiBum with Jay and him. HyukJae elbowed me as I looked up. HeeChul gestured for me to come to him.

I stood up, walking towards HeeChul as HanKyung and KiBum sat down beside Jay. HeeChul looked at me pensively before flicking my forehead. "Yah! What was that for?"

"Quit being so depressing, Pinocchio." HeeChul said, his eyes serious. "I know that your dad just died and that I'm in the hospital. But don't let that bring you down. You're Hae, Pinocchio. Just be happy." He turned to HyukJae. "Take DongHae home, he needs to rest."

I felt HyukJae wrap his arms around me as HeeChul adjusted my beanie to hide most of my hair and slipped on a pair of sunglasses, even though the sun was setting. I waved goodbye to HeeChul as we left the room to return to the dorm. The ride home was short and quiet as the both of us kept our mouths shut. I went into the room I shared with HyukJae, DongHee, and JongWoon, crawling into my bed and ignoring the others. I fell asleep quickly, exhaustion from the recent events finally setting in.

I woke up the next morning to find HyukJae curled up at my side. I prodded his arm as his eyes opened. We both got out of the bed and went into the kitchen where HanKyung was making Beijing Fried Rice with YoungWoon. ShiWon had come over and was sitting on the couch, staring blankly at the television screen. JongWoon was sitting in the kitchen, absentmindedly drinking his coffee. JungSu handed HyukJae and me a plate of rice as he gestured for us to sit down. I ate my food quickly, remembering that the last time I had ate something was after my father's funeral, which was a piece of candy. I heard the door open as ShiWon disappeared and SungMin came into the kitchen. I closed my eyes, knowing that he had visited HeeChul, and finished my food.

RyeoWook took my place at the kitchen table as I went to sit down on the couch. HyukJae was still eating. I curled up into a ball as several weeks passed by. I cried frequently as HyukJae embraced me, only leaving when JungSu had to call him to do Sukira. I closed my eyes, holding back happy tears, when KiBum came into the main dorm and announced that HeeChul was discharged. I didn't visit HeeChul, rather I went to sleep early that night, smiling.

The next morning, I pulled at HyukJae as I led him into JungSu's and YoungWoon's room. YoungWoon was up and making breakfast, so I jumped onto JungSu's bed, pulling HyukJae along with me. JungSu's eyes flew open as he watched us jump on his bed. I smiled at him, calling him crazy before we both pulled him out into the living room. YoungWoon and HanKyung moved all the food into the living room as one by one, all the members filed into the dorm. I could see JungSu's face light up as HyukJae and I shared a mischievious smile. I spent the rest of the day playing games with DongHee and HyukJae, each of us trying to beat each other up. *

Within a few more weeks, we started to practice the for Tic! Toc! as HyukJae took center stage for the dance. He was smiling more than ever and I couldn't help but smile myself. HeeChul caught me smiling once and smacked me on the head, saying that I needed to concentrate and not pay attention to HyukJae unless I was dancing. I smiled at him as I skipped off, nearly running into KiBum who was coming in for practice.

Christmas was slowly approaching when two events hit us, making me doubtful of Super Junior's permanence. Super Junior K.R.Y. was to debut first and a few weeks later, Super Junior T was to debut. I could see the sadness in HyukJae's eyes as he and I spent less time with each other. JongWoon and SungMin changed rooms and I could also see the sadness in SungMin as his time with KyuHyun decreased. I had no one to stay with me when HeeChul and HyukJae were gone. I sat in my bed, wondering why I wasn't chosen for a subgroup as the door creaked open. I turned my head to see KiBum walking into the room.

"KiBum, what's wrong?" I asked as he sat down on my bed. He didn't answer, but rather, curled into my side as he fell asleep, muttering English words under his breath. I knew he was stressed as well. HanKyung was in China again, HeeChul was doing Super Junior T, and Jay was with the TRAX. But, even then, I knew that KiBum was leaving for America again as he usually began to speak in English whenever he was about to go back. I patted his hair and fell asleep, hugging him tightly.

Christmas was quiet as I sat in my room. ShiWon was with his parents. Super Junior K.R.Y. was busy. KiBum was back in America. HanKyung was still in China. Super Junior T were working on their single. There was no one around. I curled up into a ball, trying to will myself to sleep when I heard the door open. My head shot up as I looked at the clock in the room. It was noon. I jumped off my bed as I heard my name being called.

I scurried into the living room to see YoungWoon, SungMin, and DongHee preparing food. JungSu was on the couch with HeeChul, who had his laptop in front of him, and HyukJae was turning on the game system. I heard the door open again as ShiWon came through the door, pulling KyuHyun into the dorm. JongWoon and RyeoWook were not far behind them. I smiled and sat down on the floor with HyukJae as JungSu got up to get the presents out. I smiled brightly as most of Super Junior sat down and ate, opening presents and drinking happily.

Christmas left as fast as it came and before I knew it, it was March. I was on my way back to the dorm when a frantic HeeChul called my cellphone. "Hello?"

"Hae? Listen, hurry back to the dorms, now. JungSu, DongHee, HyukJae, and KyuHyun were in an accident. We don't know of their condition yet, but hurry. KiBum-hyung is going to take us to the hospital."

I nearly dropped my phone, but I ran back to the dorms as fast as I could, bringing my endurance from soccer and dancing into me. I skidded into the dorm as SungMin and HeeChul grabbed me by the arm and rushed us to the hospital. I was vaguley aware that several members were missing until we stopped. KiBum, HanKyung, ShiWon, JongWoon, and RyeoWook weren't with us. YoungWoon pulled at me as HeeChul yelled his way past the nurses and into the rooms. They were all located next to each other. HyukJae and DongHee shared one room. JungSu was in another and KyuHyun was in another.

HeeChul left as soon as we were settled into the rooms, me in DongHee's and HyukJae's, YoungWoon in JungSu's, and SungMin in KyuHyun's. He gave me a reassuring squeeze as he disappeared in the mess of people at the hospital, somehow avoiding the crowd of people outside. I looked at the other two in the room, sleeping on the bed. They both had scratches on their face, but I could see that HyukJae's back was bandaged. The door opened as I sat down, only to stand up again. It was the doctor. HyukJae and DongHee were to be released in a week as the recuperate from the shock. I closed my eyes in relief, falling asleep on the couch, somehow making myself comfortable.

March flew by as DongHee and HyukJae were released and in June, JungSu was released. I closed my eyes as we began to prepare for Haengbok. To say I was nervous was an understatement. H.O.T. was the original singer and I didn't know if we could live up to that. But, still I recorded my parts, smiling as the beat of the song infected me. SungMin smiled happily as news of KyuHyun's recovery reached us and that he was going home to his parents. Home. I closed my eyes as we changed into our performance clothes. SungMin was singing his solo under his breath as HeeChul pulled me to my feet and started handing out the microphones.

We walked onto the stage, microphones in hand as the screaming began. The lights blinded me, but I glowed. The smoke kept bursting, pushing my energy higher and higher. As we reached the refrain, my energy soared as I put my all into this first performance, imagining thirteen members on stage as one.

Life couldn't get better.

• Eunhyuk and Donghae spent a whole night alone in the hotel in Jeju island because Leeteuk who was with them had to go back to Seoul , Eunhyuk said they didn’t sleep that night because Donghae wanted to see the sun rise , so they played cards and chatted the whole night but in the end Donghae fell asleep on the couch because he was too tired . Eunhyuk though who wanted to make Donghae happy stayed awake to wait for the dawn and when the sun finally begun to rose he woke Donghae up and they watched it rise together .
• Donghae never paid attention to manga before but he decided to try it because Eunhyuk always sounded extremely excited when he talked about it , he became a big fan of dragonball and they recently mentioned this on sukira
• When elfish fans consulted an astrologue to make a detailed personal chart for Donghae, (for his 20th ’s birthday ) they also asked him if he could tell them who among the other super junior members was the most compatible ( astrologically speaking ) with Donghae , and it turned out that Eunhyuk was the most compatible , not only that ,but the two charts were judged to be EXTREMELY compatible. 
• When SuJu arrived in china , the airport was filled with fan banners of all kinds but Dongahe only smiled happily when he saw the HyukHae/EunHae one
•  Eunhyuk said that during practice when he is tired he only has to look at Donghae to feel energized once again
•  On a radio show, when discussing who among the members has the nicest lips. Donghae was quick to say, “Hyukjae’s when he wakes up.”

• oom, Eunhyuk took off his clothes. When it was Bonamana time, he didnt have enough time to wear it back. He danced topless. Then Donghae went over and put Eunhyuk’s clothes over Eunhyuk. And “helped” him to wear. Eunhyuk went one side to wear it then returned back to dancing.
•  During personal Item introduction, Eunhyuk asked if he should give his pillow to the fans. Donghae says “that pillow is mine!”
•  During Donghae’s intro of personal item, he got a picture of sapphireblue sea. He says SJ belongs to ELF. Teuk asked him who does he belong to, Hae said softly (almost whispering) Eunhyuk’s.
• The 2nd fanmeeting later that afternoon, Siwon’s turn to whack Eunhyuk. He whacked super hard. After whacking, Donghae ran over and hug/wrap his hands around Eunhyuk’s head. Like heartpain. Note: siwon n donghae is a team. Donghae was supposed to punish Eunhyuk’s team.
• There was one part where Eunhyuk and Donghae were on this thing and the staffs were pushing them from 2 ends towards each other. When they “met”, they naturally hugged!
• Last SS3 Taiwan, EunHae wears wedding veil that got from the ELF …. fans declaring it that is their wedding day
• [110422] Eunhyuk says that Donghae is his Girlfriend, and he will marry Donghae if ELF allows it… haha
